Our Story
Folk Saint
Folk Saint began with the desire to make a collection of memorable heritage clothing. We are creating nostalgic statement pieces with enough unique vintage inspired details to tell an inviting story. We repurpose vintage fabrics providing our customers with access to limited edition pieces.
Fueled by the desire to honor our dear late friend, Allison Angel, whom we referred to lovingly as Le Songe. Songe had a shining personality and an even more vibrant wardrobe. She donned each piece with impeccable style and treated every sidewalk like her own runway. It's with her spirit in mind that we design each piece.
The collection is designed out of our studio in West Marin, California.

Folk Saint The Collection As told by the designer
“I pulled out some of my favorite garments, the ones that are quick to catch a stranger's eye, the ones that ignite curiosity, the ones that tell a story. What I discovered was that many of the vintage pieces were scavenged during my travels with Songe. Songe and I shared a life-long friendship and a great love of vintage clothing, often sharing, as well as deeply coveting each-others finds.
Songe passed away from a rare cancer in 2019 and in the process of grieving her loss I found solace while breathing new life into these garments she so affectionately loved."

Folk Saint The Designer: Ashley Castaños
Ashley earned her BS in Fashion Business & Design at San Francisco State University, and received her Master of Fine Arts in Fashion Journalism from the Academy of Art University. She was previously the Co-Owner of cult following bohemian bridal line Daughters of Simone. She lives in Woodacre, California.
"When thinking about what to do next I definitely had in mind creating a ready to wear clothing line. I kept thinking I didn't want to make clothes - just to make clothes.
I loved designing bridal for so many reasons, but most importantly because of the sentimental aspects surrounding a wedding gown. I never felt like I was just selling another dress, I was offering what could be considered the most important dress a person would ever wear. I always felt honored that they chose us for their most important day. I loved creating connections with our brides, a very unique bond with customers that you don't get in every aspect of working in fashion.
I wanted to take that sentiment and bring it with designing ready to wear. I want to create beautiful clothing that feels just as important as a wedding gown."

Our Name Sake
Folk Saints are defined as saints of the folk, or of the people. They are real people who have passed away and have become powerful spiritual entities.
In death they are said to remain active members of their communities and are believed to act directly in the lives of their devotees.
As we honor them, and present them with offerings, they repay us by dispensing small miracles.

Our Sustainability
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and practicing sustainability. We use eco-friendly packaging materials, including biodegradable mailers, reusable cotton bags, and recyclable tags.
With a focus on planet-friendly materials our clothes are made from natural and cellulose fibers. You'll love the softness of our cupro and viscose blend, as well as our luxurious tencel and beautifully printed viscose fabrics.
